Happy New Year from Right at Home of Central New Jersey. This was a very rewarding and fulfilling year for us and we hope for all of those who work with us and who we are privileged to serve.
We hosted 4 Continuing Education (CE) events for health care professionals, nurses and social workers:
- Taking Care of Me: Managing Stress While Providing Quality Care which was co-sponsored by Vitas Healthcare and presented 3 times at 3 different facilities (Powerback Rehabilitation, Arbor Terrace Shrewsbury and CareOne at Holmdel)
- The Art of Active Listening which was co-sponsored by Vitas Healthcare and presented twice at 2 different facilities (The Chelsea at Forsgate and Mattison Crossing at Manalapan Avenue)
- Culturosity – Cultural Awareness in End-of-Life Care co-sponsored by Vitas Healthcare and presented 2 times at two different facilities (Sunrise Senior Living of East Brunswick and The Elms of Cranbury)
- Person-Centered Care for Someone with Dementia CEU webinar
We also presented multiple events for our senior population in communities we serve including:
- The Heart of the Veteran co-sponsored by Vitas Healthcare and held at Madison Center
- Pain Management presented by our Right at Home RN, Mary Ginn, and held at the Monroe Township Senior Center
- Navigating the HealthCare System presented at the Monroe Township Public Library
- Laughter Therapy co-sponsored by and presented at Parker at Monroe Adult Day Center
We formed new and exciting partnerships with multiple companies to bring new resources to our caregivers, our clients and their families:
- Home Care Pulse, which helps measure satisfaction of clients, family members and caregivers to provide feedback to us that will help us serve our clients and work with our caregivers better
- RBK Aromatherapy to showcase the positive effects and value that includes aromatherapy as part of a plan of care can have for our clients
- Veteran Care Services to provide consultations to our clients to see if they are entitled to receive assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs to pay for home health care
- Visiting Physician Partnership to provide our clients with additional care options including home visits, medication management, social workers, social services and in-home medical specialists
- Spiro100 to provide Mind-Body-Spirit active age programming for seniors
Our nurses and office staff presented new programs like Nosh With a Nurse (providing the opportunity for senior communities to have one of our nurses speak on various health-related topics) and Right Chefs (heart-healthy cooking demonstrations for facilities, groups, organizations and clubs including one sponsored by The Chelsea at Forsgate).
To thank those who partner with us, we hosted 2 movie nights where we welcomed our friends to come see a film on us.
Because we are so blessed, we always want to give back to those whom we can help. To that end, we partnered with:
- Free Wheelchair Mission which has transformed the lives of those who cannot walk by extending the gift of mobility to those who need it most. Beth traveled to Costa Rica in October (along with other Right at Home employees from across the country) on a Vision Trip to represent Right at Home in delivering and assembling free wheelchairs to those who need them. 62 wheelchairs were delivered at no cost to people with disabilities.
- The New Jersey Parkinson Foundation Moving Day Walk to raise awareness and funds to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease and to advocate for a cure.
We introduced training classes for individuals who wanted to become Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA) and we continued to add more nurses to our staff so that we can better serve our senior clients.
And we expanded by opening offices in 3 new locations (Edison, North Brunswick and Red Bank) in addition to our existing (East Brunswick and Freehold) office locations to serve our community better and to continue to provide compassionate care to all of our clients
All of us at Right at Home of Central New Jersey are very proud of the work we did in 2018. We thank:
- our caregivers and nurses for the great care they provide to all of our seniors
- our loyal and dedicated office staff
- our amazing remote co-workers
- our partners for allowing us to continue to work with them to achieve great things for our senior population
- our local businesses who support our fundraising efforts
- our clients and their families for whom it is a privilege every day to provide them with the best possible care
We look forward to accomplishing great things together in 2019. Thank you again for letting us be part of your lives and Happy New Year!!!
