Getting Ready!!!
We’re all ready for Smash Out Alzheimer's! Are you?! Join us this Sunday, November 24th from 11am-4pm at Mattison Crossing. Come smash or paint a pumpkin. We have over 30 vendors and almost 100 raffle items! Food, drinks, music, dancing and more! We can’t wait to see your there!

Fall Risk Program at the East Brunswick Senior Center
Right at Home Middlesex and Northern Monmouth had a great time at the East Brunswick Senior Center-interacting with the attendees discussing ways to help prevent falls.
Did you know that falls are the leading cause of injuries for people over age 65 and every year over 300,000 people are hospitalized for hip fractures.

As always Right at Home Middlesex and Northern Monmouth Counties is on the ball and planning ahead!
Beth Reisman Sholom treated the office and marketing staff to a night out filled with fun and creativity! While having a blast we had a goal in mind, we each created one of a kind items to personalize the new office space will be moving into as of March 2020! We always want to feel Right at Home in our workspaces as we welcome our caregivers, nurses and clients who choose to visit!

Yiddish Entertainment

When Beth Sholom, Owner/Executive Director of Right at Home of Central New Jersey, first began her journey of working with seniors to provide them with great home health care, she rented out the East Brunswick High School auditorium for two sold-out shows for neighbors, clients and residents (and her parents, Zane and Joan) to enjoy the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene . Folksbiene is the longest-running Yiddish theater in the world and Beth first learned about them from her own mother who had as a child attended performances with her grandmother in New York.
Folksbiene is now performing "Fiddler on the Roof" in Yiddish in New York City and Beth is sharing that experience by taking her parents to see what has been hailed by the New York Times as "offering a kind of authenticity no other Fiddler ever has".
Along with television shows like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" (which deals with a young Jewish housewife who, after her husband leaves her, become a stand-up comic) and the recent Carnegie Hall celebration of Yiddish music and culture, there has been a resurgence of Yiddish culture in America. For our many clients, friends, caregivers and partners who are Jewish, we celebrate the many opportunities we have to embrace and enjoy our culture. (And if you want to see the return of a great musical, "Fiddler on the Roof", it's running in New York until September 1).

We are all sad to see him go, but wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors! Hopefully that means getting a lot of R&R!

Right at Home Celebrates the Legacy of Bill Buckner

Remembers Bill Buckner

If you are old enough to remember the remarkable story of the 1986 New York Mets and their World Series win, you'll remember Game 6 at Shea Stadium when the Boston Red Sox were just 2 outs shy of winning the series. Mookie Wilson came to bat, hit a ball towards first base where Bill Buckner was playing and the rest is New York Mets history.
This week Bill Buckner died at the age of 69 from that most horrible of diseases, dementia, surrounded by his family. He had a long and storied baseball career, winning a batting championship and also being an All-Star but, sadly, most people may remember him only from his fielding error in 1986. When interviewed about his death, Mookie Wilson said:
"We had developed a friendship that lasted well over 30 years. I felt badly for some of the things he went through. Bill was a great, great baseball player whose legacy should not be defined by one play".
We at Right at Home of Central New Jersey celebrate the life and career of Bill Buckner and give a shout-out to our own New York Met Mookie Wilson for reminding people that Bill Buckner had a life well lived, shortened by the terrible disease of dementia.
