When you have a family member who lives alone, one of the things you worry about is making sure they're safe when at home.
If you live nearby your family member, many times you are able to serve as the primary caregiver. But if no family members live nearby — which is more common with today's smaller families and greater mobility — you might find yourself suddenly or gradually supporting the well-being of senior loved ones from afar. Whether you live nearby but work every day or whether you are hundreds (or maybe thousands) of miles from your family member and can't be there to check in on them, you're not alone. According to the Family Caregiver Alliance, there will be up to 14 million long-distance caregivers by 2020.
If this is your situation, it's time to put a plan in place.
Where to begin? Rather than taking a chance on a Craigslist ad or employment agency, working with a company like Right at Home of Central New Jersey may be best for your loved one. We screen and train our caregivers and provide ongoing supervision and education. In addition, the ongoing support that we can provide to you is invaluable and will help you as you avoid spending countless hours on the phone, away from your work tasks, to figure out why the caregiver didn't show up or why Mom missed her doctor appointment.
Please call Beth Sholom, Owner/Executive Director of Right at Home of Central New Jersey to let us know how we can help you. Our professionals are very flexible and we will partner with you to determine the best schedule for care for your family. We provide care from a few hours a day to overnight shifts to live-in care. We'll work with you to come up with the best plan for your family and always be available 24/7 to help. We care for your family as we would for our own!
