Today, January 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This is the day when people all over the world honor all of the lives that were lost during the Holocaust.
In 2005 the United Nations designated this day, which marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz in 1945, as a day of commemoration to remember all of those who were victims of the Holocaust.
A very powerful statistic about the Holocaust is that if we held a moment of silence for every victim of the Holocaust, we would be silent for eleven and a half years!
We at Right at Home of Central New Jersey are honored to care for our clients and their families who are Holocaust survivors and consider it a great privilege to serve them. We will always do our very best to provide them with the most wonderful care we can to ensure that they are have the best quality of life possible. We have worked for many years with Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County which helps keep Holocaust survivors in their own homes and will always continue to do so.
Our social media manager, Ellen, shared with us that she lived in a community in New Jersey that was built by Holocaust survivors who were saved by Oskar Schindler. The builders of this community made it their mission to honor Oskar Schindler by naming a street in every development they built after him and there are 24 communities in New Jersey with a tribute to Oskar Schindler and all of the lives he saved.
